Timeless Moments

I want more of these in my life...

6.17.25

Here we are...it is Tuesday. My long work day that affords me an extra full day off every other week. Yesterday was my day off and it was another glorious day. The weather was a bit moody, being raining, then sunny, a little tornado watch action, then back to rainy. Anytime its rainy I enjoy working on my Ink Flower Scent Co work. I made WEAR THE SWIMSUIT rollerball perfume. It was a recipe I came up with the first year we were in business.

I still use a notebook when developing my scent mixes, then I put the information into the computer and print out a master recipe. However this recipe slipped through the cracks of my new system of backing up the data in a computer and printing it out to go into my master perfume 3-ring binder. So I spent a good 20 minutes paging through 2 notebooks with the simmering of panic. I finally decided to go even slower, turtle speed. Carefully focusing on each page of the book I thought it would be in. Sure enough, the recipe was faded as it was written in pencil. Note to self and I knew it at the time: Never write your recipes in pencil! I could make out "....the Swim Suit", and most of the ingredient names were still intact. Thank goodness the grams were visible. I quickly took a sharpie and jotted down the recipe in my first notebook and I will be putting this into my computer.

It is such a great scent. The secret ingredient is Coco Butter Cashmere. It adds that little dap of suntan lotion scent that pulls all the tropical beach scents together. Absolutely a day at the beach vibe. The message of the roller is an important one. We picture a mom in her swimsuit, sitting down in the sand and making sandcastles with her kids. Decorating them with seashells or seaweed and spinning stories about who lives there. This is the mom that used to stay on her beach chair fully clothed because she was too afraid of judging eyes. She decided to say yes to her kids instead.

Come up with whatever scenario you want. The bottom-line is that we care way too much about what others think about us, when really what matters is being in the moment with the people we love. Really in the moment. Feeling the texture of the sand. The sun on your skin. Being open to that sense of awe. Time almost stops and we hover in a place of nostalgia when we experience the things we did as kids as adults. Even better when we revisit our childhood with our kids. The little things at the beach like watching the tiny fish as you take your first steps into the lake. The fish get bigger the further you go. How small you feel as the water climbs higher on your chest. I loved going to the beach with my mom back in the day LOL. I loved taking my kids to the beach. Ok enough of dreaming. Let's go! LOL

Let's talk more about AWE. The book I am reading called The Power of Awe is getting really interesting. I was reading last night about how AWE changes your perception of time. It mentions how our perception of time changes, depending on what we are doing. Have you ever noticed on a slow day at work that the time just drags? Quite the opposite when it is a hopping day. Or when you are having so much fun with your friends at a party, the night flies by. Or you are having a conversation with someone, and you don’t even know where the time went. AWE creates timelessness. You forget about time. Time is infinite. I was thinking about what in my life makes the clock non-existent.

My most recent example was on Father's Day. I gave my husband a full body massage and we did some beautiful photography of hand holding, hugging, him placing his hands on my hair. Time stopped. We had endless amounts of "TIME". I want more of this in my life. More moments of AWE. The photos were beautiful by the way. I edited some of them in black and white, some more sepia toned. Added a soft blur to most to give that dreamy effect. Planning on making a Shutterfly book that we can treasure.

I don't have much time this morning, so I am just leaving you with this small bit of writing. Yesterday morning my computer was not working. So, I had to spend 45 minutes on the phone with Xfinity to fix my internet service. Alas, they couldn't fix it. But my gamer kids did. They recommended a Wi-Fi adapter. I hit the local Best Buy. Installed the software and boom. It works! Back in business baby.

Have a lovely Tuesday. May your day have some "timeless" moments in it...

Love, Alimoon
